Lincoln the Newfoundlander

Golly, Sawyer is lagging behind in his posts.  Not much has happened....WAIT, something DID happen.  How could I forget?

I have a new little buddy....LINCOLN!  Yup, Lincoln is my new protege - he loves to follow me around, and around and around.  Did I mention that he loves to follow me where ever I go?!!  Lincoln is a handsome, midnight black Newfoundlander puppy, who has a very loving family, like me.  He looked just like a little teddy bear when I first met him (Mellie wanted to take him home but I wouldn't let her...snicker, snicker!).  He's not so little anymore - he's inching close to my size & weight.  We are going to be best buddies.

Thanks for being my friend Lincoln and welcome!

It's March 13th and just as all the snow had melted, it starts to snow yet again.  Berners love their snow but sometimes their owners have had enough!

Enjoy a few snowy pictures of Sawyer and company.

Move over Sawyer, heeeeeere's LINCOLN!

HELLO everyone, my name if Lincoln

Yesterday, Mellie and I had the opportunity to meet a new addition to Jaye & Joe's family (and NO, Mel did not give birth to a baby!).

This four-legged not-so-little bundle of joy (8 weeks old and already weighing in at 27 lbs!) arrived on their doorstep on Wednesday.  Lincoln & Johnson were the only twin pups born from this litter and luckily, J&J were granted custody of Lincoln, a fluffy black-haired boy.  Look at that face....awwww

Please welcome him on Sawyer's blog...we'll be seeing much more of Linc!

OMG!  T H E    C U T E S T  puppy E V E R!

Lost...and found

Another fun adventure for Sawyer yesterday.  While on our usual walk, we ran into a 16-month old golden retriever named Bower, with unlimited energy for play.  Following Bower, was a stray chocolate Lab, quite happily joining in on the fun.  We never did get his name  (for now we'll refer to him as Coco) nor could we ascertain who his owners were (none in sight).  I had an inkling that he lived in one of the 5 homes near the trail. We figured in time, though, that Coco would find his way home.

"If I roll fast enough, Coco will never catch me!"

After some good, robust time playing tug-a-stick,  whose-dominating-who,  and I-can-bark-louder-than-you-can, we parted ways...almost.  Coco decided to follow Sawyer and I, which was cute for a while.  I realized we were nearing our car, and Coco was still with us.  I encouraged him to go home but he refused to listen.  Must be our magnetic personality!  Ok, what to do?  I decided to retrace my steps and make an attempt to walk him back to the subdivision, in hope of finding his owner.  After several attempts knocking on strangers' doors, with no response, there really wasn't much I could do.  We turned around and headed for the car, with two dogs happily in tow.

'My name is Sawyer, what's yours?"
"I have bigger teeth than you do." "No you don't"

Best buddies...walking the trail side-by-side

We got to the car and Coco was trusting enough to hop in the front seat with me, while Sawyer assumed the back seat position.  Off we went to the Burlington Animal Shelter in hope that his owners would claim him.  The shelter was awesome.  They scanned Coco to determine if he was micro-chipped and thankfully he was.  The owners were notified and Coco was reunited with his family 2 hours later....one happy ending for Coco....and Sawyer (who really doesn't like sharing his mommy with other males!)

"Hey Mom, I had fun with Coco!"

Snowmaggedon, eh?

We had ourselves a real good snowstorm yesterday with an estimated accumulation of 35 cm of fresh powder.  Perfect for skiers, snowshoers and Berners!  Sawyer was no exception.

During the storm's peak, Sawyer spent a good 4 hours frolicking in the fluff, which meant that I HAD to join him.  I admit, I love the snow as much as Sawyer does, however, the neighbours prefer watching Sawyer pouncing & jumping like a deer over snowbanks, rather than watch me make an ass of myself making snow angels!

Please Mom, come out and play!

Happily chewing on a beef bone (how did he ever find it buried in the snow?!)

Enjoying the snowy view

Slowly inching closer to the back door

All that playing pooped him out!

Asleep on his favorite couch...wait a minute, it's actually OUR couch!

Evening snowfall

Winter is Sawyer's favorite time of year.  With his big furry coat, he is nicely insulated from the subzero temperature we experience.  Having said that, if he had a choice of being outside on his own, or spend time with his human friends inside a warm cozy house, he would choose the latter.

Sawyer hasn't really had new experiences lately but he's happy to share some of his latest pictures in the  snow...
